Wakeup to the fact: Page Ranks need not be your priority anymore
Google's webmaster trends analyst, John Mueller has confirmed that Google will no longer be updating Toolbar PageRank - its system for ranking web pages based on value. These scores are supposedly not as relevant as they were earlier.
So what are PageRanks and how does it really work?
Pagerank is nothing but a system developed for ranking WebPages according to their value and content. The easiest method to understand this would be to associate links with votes. Google's system counts each and every links as votes and the most important pages receive a higher PageRank and have more chances to appear at the top of the search results.
Now with PageRank toolbar gone, SEO still needs a faithful set of metrics to look at when assessing the trustworthiness of a domain. doodleblue has put together a few alternatives to PageRanks. Take a look at them below!
Majestic has developed a tool that measures the strength of a page based on backlink data. Backlink is a hyperlink that links from a Web page, back to your website. Because Majestic crawls the whole web, it does not have to rely on a third party for the data. This tool collects data directly from the web and has its own search engine as well!
This toolbar from MOZ allows you to create custom search and tells you how web pages are going to rank in Google's SERPs in addition to having in depth page level analysis.
This tool helps you assess the number of backlinks and referring domains. Additionally they provide you with a detailed analysis of all the links you own, from which IP's to which anchor text. You could also utilize this tool to probe on which content brings you more shares!
Seriously, is there anything better than this?
